Wie geht es dir? (How are you?)

Wow!  Only one more day of survival German classes and I can say for sure.... my mind feels really OLD!  Rick and I have been praying for retention after each class but each day the information seems to disappear into a black hole and doesn't want to reappear when needed in the market, on the street, or in the shops.  :)  Thankfully, I know how to say hello and how are you, when walking down the street and that seems to help people to smile back and greet us as well.  An older lady today was waiting to cross a main street and when we stopped to greet her she broke out in a huge smile and said hello back.  That seems like a huge accomplishment since usually we are just stared at when greeting others.  I did try to use a phrase today at a store and the lady looked at me a little confused.  I said it two more times and finally showed her my language book.  She laughed and said it for me.  I thought mine sounded just like her pronunciation.  I guess not.  :)))
Rick is visiting an "English Camp" this evening.  Our sending agency, "TeachBeyond" hosts these camps each summer in Kandern for German teenagers.  Churches send groups of people to be the "staff" for the camps and use it as a mission trip.  They stay at the dorms that are usually filled by the BFA high school students.  Rick wanted to see how the camps are organized and if this would be something to encourage our friends and family from the US to come be a part of next summer.  Let us know if you might be interested in this kind of missions trip.
The girls have really enjoyed going to the BFA high school each morning while we are in English camp.  A sweet couple from the US are here volunteering for TeachBeyond for a few weeks helping in various ways.  This week they are watching the children who have parents in the language classes.  Our girls have looked forward to going each morning.  How thankful Rick and I were that they have children to play with this week and a fun activity.
This weekend we may drive around our area a little to explore and sightsee.  Some things being discussed are going to a nearby town that has a lake, going on a short train ride or driving up into the mountains.  This may be our last weekend for awhile that is relatively free.  It sounds like beginning Monday the pace gets faster and faster with ministry and different opportunities to serve.
I need to go tuck in the girls for bed!  We sure miss our family and friends but the Lord has been so good to give our hearts peace that we are living in the right place!
Hugs!  :)
