The fun begins...

We are thankful for a weekend that gave our family some time together and ability to explore our surroundings a little.  Friday afternoon we went swimming (well, that is not true).  Rick and the girls went swimming.  I sat on the lawn and visited with other moms that were too wimpy as well to get into 20 degree C. water.  I don't even want to figure what that is in F.  It is the cold that immediately turns your lips blue.  I guess living close to the mountains keeps water really cool. :)  On Saturday, Lauren met a new friend and had her over to our home.  Saturday evening we went a drive to Holzen (only 10 minutes away).  Sadly the Purperos (Holzen is their hometown) are still in the US but we saw the outside of their home and visited the stork hospital that is right next door to them.  The girls loved seeing the storks and their relative's home.  I think it helped to remember soon there will be people close by them that are family.  (or at least it helped me!  :) )

Today, Sunday, we went to BFCF (Black Forest Christian Fellowship) and enjoyed worshipping with others.  We missed our home church but it was great to see friendly faces there.  The service was in English but the sermon was translated into German.  It was great to meet some more people.  We were suppose to have at another BFA family home but one of the children came down with the flu so we opted for another time.  After a nap this afternoon ( I am still trying to get over jet-lag), we went on a family hike in the Black Forest.  What was suppose to be a 1/2 an hour turned into an hour and a half hike.  The girls were thrilled to find things to explore.  We also found many blackberries.  This rejuvenated the girls when they tried to out pick each other for fruit.  They brought enough home that we made an blackberry cobbler for dessert tonight.  Yummy!

Tomorrow begins our German language classes.  Please pray for our girls.  We don't think there are other children their age to play with during the mornings.  They may be sitting and waiting for us for the week.  We know the Lord will work out the details.

Thank you for your prayers that Rick would have time this week to begin working on teaching material for the fall.  He has been such a help in getting us settled that there hasn't been much time carved out for this.

Please also pray we would retain much that we learn this week in our language class.  It's hard to desire to reach out to the locals here without having a language to do it in.

Hugs!
