"International" Christmas and the New Year

Dear friends and family,
Posting on our blog has definitely taken a back seat to all the other things trying to be done around our home.  I am sorry that we haven't shared more about all the great opportunities we have had lately to enjoy Germany and our "new friends" here.
Christmas break was a great time to spend with friends and enjoy a relaxing time as a family.  We were blessed that our friends from Japan and B.F.A helped to make our Christmas season very special.
Here are some of the highlights...
Iris and her daughter Olivia (friend of Lauren's from school) invited us over for Swiss fondue right before Christmas.  It has been a joy to get to know them better!

Makiko and Sho (from Japan) came to stay with us while they were in Germany.  A great delight to see them again after we had known them in the US before we all moved.

Ice Skating at an outdoor rink in Colmar, France (Kaylin on the far right).

A beautiful Christmas Market in Colmar, France.

Kaylin was glad to find an "American" hamburger at a French cafe.

New Year's Eve celebrated by watching an AMAZING fireworks display all over our city (set off by amateurs)!  A little crazy and "almost" dangerous but really fun!

A Korean "Christian" school came to perform for the students of BFA at the beginning of January.
A very special time to see these students praising God with such joy!

We enjoyed a Raclette and Fondue dinner with Dave (friend from the US) and some other great friends!

Rick and Dave explored the "Roman Ruins" in Badenweiler ( a town 20 minutes from Kandern) while he was visiting.

Last Sunday (January 27th), Kaylin celebrated her 13th birthday.  We threw a "Mystery" dinner party with her friends.
Only 5 more months and our time in Germany will come to an end.  We will continue to look for opportunities to serve in the community of BFA and Kandern.  Lauren and I took a walk in the forest yesterday.  It is a dear thing our whole family will miss.  We found lambs and horses to visit in nearby pastures.  Hearing the mountain stream run through the forest and being in the midst of so many pine trees is so tranquil.  Lauren said maybe someday she will write a book about it all.  She said she took a picture in her mind since she didn't have her camera with her.

School is keeping us all busy right now.  Rick is enjoying his new classes with students.  Kaylin is enjoying being a part of the Middle School play (performances at the beginning of March).  Her character name is "Worm".  :)  On the subject of worms...  Lauren is enjoying the "mealworm" project at school (they are all named and come home to visit on the weekends).  :)

Thanks for reading and know you are loved!  His Joy and Peace are ours in ABUNDANCE!

Love, The Bushes
