Second Semester is in FULL swing!

Back to waking up early, packing lunches, helping with homework and Rick working in his "cave" (basement office).  The girls' and Rick's semester is off to a great start. They all jumped back to "regular" school life with good attitudes.  Rick said his classes are going great and he is enjoying getting to know a new group of students.
We enjoyed having more time with Bill and Becky Purpero (Vince's parents) this past week.  It fills your "love tank" to be around people that you know from the US.  We also enjoyed spending the majority of Friday and Saturday at the BFA gymnasium watching the basketball games for JV and Varsity.  I have two girls in my small group in JV girls basketball and our nephew, Anthony plays on the Varsity team and our brother-in-law coaches this team.  It was so fun to hear Anthony's name announced over and over on Friday evening, after each basket that he made.  It was also fun to see all the school spirit, especially when they won.  Our girls enjoyed all the time at the high school because it was the place where all their friends were as well.  It was like a two day marathon play-date.
The next two weekends are also "home" basketball games so I guess this will also be how we spend the next two weekends having the joy of being able to see Anthony and Vince and all the excitement of BFA basketball.
Another highlight of the time at the basketball games was meeting US service men that are stationed in Germany.  BFA is in the "Department of Defense" league.  We were able to eat lunch with a man and his two young sons, originally from Akron, OH (Rick enjoyed that he was a Cleveland Browns' fan).  He is now stationed in Germany but was in Iraq up until last year.  We also enjoyed meeting a couple from Defiance, OH.  Their base in Germany has a high school that competes with BFA.  We realize the students at BFA are much like the students at military bases.  They probably have all moved around a lot in different countries and don't really know what country to call "home."  What a privilege to continue to share with the students that God is with them no matter where they live here on earth!
This week I am looking forward to hosting a BFA staff breakfast, meeting with a German woman for coffee, attending a bi-lingual bible study on 2 Timothy, leading the 9th grade small group and having Bill and Becky for dinner; amongst many other activities.  Thank you for the many prayers and words of encouragement to press on and be available to however the Lord can be most glorified in our lives here in Germany!
