What a joy to have "family" in town to celebrate Kaylin's 12th!
Bill and Becky Purpero (Grandma Becky and Grandpa Bill) and the rest of the Purperos came over a surprise birthday party for Kaylin, today after church. Kaylin will turn 12 on the 27th but Bill and Becky will fly back to the US tomorrow. It was so sweet to have them over to enjoy pizza and ice cream sundaes with us. Last week, went by in a flash. I wondered what would keep me busy this semester. There are plenty of ways to serve here in the BFA community. Tuesday, a group of parents and myself helped host a faculty breakfast for BFA. Wednesday, I enjoyed having the 9th grade small group girls at my house for bible study. I also began attending an international bible study at a local German church. It's a joy to hear 2 Timothy in English and German. On Thursday, a group of moms had a "welcome" tea/coffee for a mom that just arrived in January to B.F.A. with her family.
For fun...
Monday, I had coffee with a neighbor. Also, Bill and Becky were able to come over for dinner and some time to visit. What a blessing to have "family" in town.
Tuesday, a new friend from bible study took me on a new path (to me) to walk in the forest. I don't think my body is ready for the paths she knows. It seemed to be at an intense incline the whole way. I wondered when we would start to descend so I could talk and breathe.
Thursday, with our girls getting older, Rick and I were able to leave them at home and walk to the cafe down the block for an hour to have a "date" together after school.
Friday and Saturday, our family enjoyed watching BFA home basketball games against another US military school (Ramstein). It's a lot of fun watching Anthony play and Vince coach.
This week... A few new things to add to my week.
Monday lunch... I will meet with one of the girls from the small group.
I will start helping on Monday afternoons (with our kids) to work in a dorm. Prayerfully, this will help meet a need with the dorm parents with kitchen help and also give our family an opportunity to serve. I look forward to spending time with my friend who is a "dorm mom" and also getting to know more of the high school girls that live there.
Tuesday morning, I will sub in Lauren's 4th grade class.
Rick and the girls continue to do great at school. It's great to see Rick enjoy his classes and the students.
January is passing by quickly. The one thing I am not doing as well and need to make sure finds time in my schedule this week is more German practice. I need to write it in my calendar as an activity or it gets quickly moved to the side.
Kaylin is longing for a time on the computer so I better stop rambling! How privileged we are to have a way to stay in touch with all of you! Whatever is on your calendar this week, I pray it's wonderful! Whatever I am doing, I pray I do it all for the glory of God.
