Fröhliche Weihnachten" (happy Christmas) season!

Hello friends and family,

Our sweet German village is decorated with all the beautiful Christmas lights and advent wreaths but not the "commercialism" you would see in the US.  What a welcome change!  This Thursday in our town square, we will listen to Christmas choirs and roast bread on sticks over the fire pits.  What fun new adventures to add to our family's memories!

This Tuesday, will be our last German class for the semester.  I am thinking I need to find a tutor to help with more conversational German.  I really have enjoyed our language teacher but my learning has been a little slow when you are in a class and can't stop to ask as many questions as you have.

Language lesson of the week:    I sat down to watch BBC news Friday morning while I ate my musli (I'm so German now) and the channel when the T.V. turned was on a show called, "Lust auf backen".  I knew "backen" was bake but what in the world does "lust" translate into English?  Thankfully, I find out it just means, "Desire to Bake".   Some words don't translate well, as I am finding out.  And thankfully some friends told me it's pronounced differently as well.  Phew!

Only two more weeks and our 1st semester will be finished.  Wow... it has gone by so quickly!

Here are some quick highlights in pictures from the last few weeks:

1.  Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner with the Purperos at the Agape (CCC) office:

Rick's beautiful sister Karen, Kaylin and Rick

Chloe and Anthony - Our very fun niece and nephew!

I am so thankful for my AWESOME husband!  :)

Kim (my friend that has helped make moving to Germany a lot easier with all her laughter and encouragment, my beautiful sister-in-law again and moi.

Aunt Karen, Lauren and Uncle Vince
It was very special to be able to spend a holiday with our family in Germany!

2.  Small group Pizza dinner at my friend Amy's.  She did a great job sharing her lifestory with the girls.

3.  Angela, Bekah and Katie, all seniors at BFA came over for dinner last week.
(Kaylin's small group leaders, whom she just adores!)
We are so blessed that she is a part of a middle school program that teaches great truths each week and her mentors are these wonderful young women!

4.  Christmas came early!  :)  Rick's Aunt Wendy sent a "Family Size"
bag of Cheetos!  Do you think Kaylin is a little excited?  :)
Thank you Leslie family!

5.  BFA Christmas Banquet (in November).  We had the honor of hearing Anthony and Chloe both perform during the evening and see Vince be one of the emcees for the evening's event.

Anthony and Rick both looking very handsome!

Chloe looking stunning!

Moi, Isabella and Jaz (from my small group)

6.  Our small group joined two other 9th grade girls small groups for our
Christmas Party including lots of yummy Christmas treats, Tacky Christmas Apparel Competition
and did a White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Well, I hope this gave you a quick snapshot of how many wonderful activities we have been doing lately!  The next blog I will make sure to include pictures of our family cutting down our "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree, Gingerbread house making with friends and how wonderful celebrating Advent is here in Germany!  May you all have a "Fröhliche Weihnachten" (happy Christmas) season!
